Institutional Research
About NDUS-IR
The NDUS Department of Institutional Research (NDUS-IR), based in the state capitol, functions as a system-level organization dedicated to reporting and data services. NDUS-IR handles annual enrollment reporting to the State Board of Higher Education (SBHE), oversees mandatory federal reporting, offers data services to NDUS system office staff, supports IR services across the university system, and addresses data requests from legislators and other external agencies.

At NDUS-IR, we are committed to upholding ethical principles and guidelines to ensure the privacy and confidentiality of students. We adhere to the Code of Ethics established by the Association for Institutional Research (AIR). The NDUS-IR department has adopted an Ethical and Responsible Use of Analytics in Reporting code. This code offers guidance to NDUS-IR staff when conducting research and/or reporting that utilizes analytic software.
Meet the Staff
NDUS Director of Institutional Research and Analytics/Chief Data Analyst

- CTS senior staff member, manages NDUS Institutional Research Department
- Responsible for SBHE annual enrollment reporting & legislative data requests
- SLDS Governance Committee member, and SLDS working groups for research, workforce
- State keyholder for federal IPEDS reporting for NDUS public, tribal, and private colleges
- Member of Governors K-12 Education Coordinating Council
Deputy Director of Reporting and Analytics

- Leads the NDUS Information and Data Governance (IDEG) and Artificial Intelligence initiatives
- Leads Large Language Model (LLM) application development for CTS
- Coordinate systemwide implementation of Labor Market Analytics software
- Create improved business processes and dashboards for system office, CTS, and campuses
- Liaison with other state partners in the areas related to analytics
NDUS Institutional Researcher – Special Projects

- NDUS leader for accountability and reporting projects with NDDPI
- NDDPI project manager for dashboard reporting, ESSA accountability, financial transparency, and school improvement.
- NDDPI consultant for survey development
- NDDPI collaborator on SLDS data and research initiatives
- NDDPI liaison for enhanced data literacy and use with North Dakota education stakeholders
NDUS Institutional Researcher – Educational Data Warehouse Specialist

- Works closely with the ND Department of Public Instruction (K-12) and ND Information Technology
- Responds to education data and research requests from state agencies or from outside of state government
- Works with best practices to conduct complex statistical analyses in order to answer research questions
- Assists with inter-agency collaborations related to education data
Business Intelligence Analyst

- Assists institutions with mandatory reporting as a shared service
- Supports system office with BI development and support
- Collaborates closely with IDEG for system wide BI development, support and implementation
- Leads efforts to develop streamlined and automated operational processes
