Statement on Open Records

Our office is committed to transparency and accessibility, as outlined in the North Dakota Constitution and Century Code. We ensure that public records are made available and process efficiently, providing timely and accurate information without unnecessary delays.

Understanding Open Records vs. Information & Data Requests

Open records requests apply to existing documents like emails, reports, and meeting minutes, as defined by open record laws. In contrast, information or data requests typically involve generating new analyses or extracting specific datasets, which are not subject to these laws. As such, responses to data requests are provided at the discretion of the Institutional Research staff.
